There have been Doctor Who toys and collectibles in shops virtually so long as there have been adventures for The Doctor. Through the yearsthere have been some truly memorable Doctor Who toys and merchandise, like the legendary 1960s Dalek costumes for youngsters, and a few that haven’t been quite so brilliant (the Dapol figures come back to mind). Fortunately, with the continued massive popularity of Doctor Who toys, merchandise and DVDs, the franchise appears set to be in shops for a good long period yet.
Well this is brilliant. I’ve personally loved Doctor Who for around twenty years, and was delighted when it returned to our tv sets back in 2005. Yes indeed, there have been a few less than marvellous episodes since it came back, but these have been luckily few. Christopher Eccleston’s 9th Doctor brought the tv series back in vogue, but it absolutely was the advent of David Tennant’s tenth Doctor that actually saw the series start as a global event.
Doctor Who is bigger at the moment than it ever was throughout the first 1963-1989 run, and since it came back it’s brought together a number of the best talent the British Television and theatre trade has to supply, both behind and in front of the camera. The series of Doctor Who toys at the moment in shops is wide and splendidly awesome for enthusiasts young and previous, who have a massive selection of toys, games, posters, statues and more to add to their Doctor Who collection.
Plus, at the moment that the time of the eleventh Doctor is about to begin, ushering in Matt Smith in the lead role as our famous Time Lord, everything can change again and an entire new series of Doctor Who collectibles can be revealed, with the new logo, the new version of the Doctor, his new companion, the new version of the TARDIS and a new rogue’s gallery of villains and monsters!
The come back of Doctor Who took old enthusiasts by surprise, but it absolutely was the sheer scale of its popularity that has shocked everyone even more. At the moment there are Doctor Who toys, merchandise and collectibles in shops at all brilliant stores and on all of the top sites on the net, and also the series can keep on growing and changing. Just just like the Time Lord himself, Doctor Who toys and merchandise keeps on coming back!
